Ethnobotany Plants and People
Course Description
This course will survey plants that impact humans in culture, religion, and medicine. Specific topics will include the study of plants that provide food, dyes, spices, fibers, medicines, poisons, and entheogens. Various indigenous peoples and their cultures will also be introduced. Additionally, an emphasis will be put on critical thinking by assessing the validity of herbal medical claims using scientific, peer-reviewed articles. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 2070K with a minimum grade of C.
